About IRRA
The International Remote Racing Association (IRRA) governs and manages the Formula RC racing championship.
Our goal is to collaborate with motor racing, drone, RC and esports associations the world over to create a new generation of racing that is faster, safer and cleaner for all.
Our Mission
We believe safety and weight are two inherent components that are inhibiting mankind’s insatiable need for speed.
We aim to liberate motor racing from these limiting factors with a new paradigm where racers race remotely at a safe distance, thus reducing at least 60kg of weight on the vehicle while removing safety rules that often decelerate the advancement of vehicle technology.
Now, safety and weight are no longer a factor.
Who We Are
Mel Wong
President
Mel Wong is the president of the International Remote Racing Association (IRRA). He was the founder of FanXT (acquired) which was the official fantasy sports provider for six football leagues. He has global business experience with 17 countries and forged partnerships with multiple sports associations including Force India Formula 1 team.
An avid F1 and radio-control fan since the 90s, and a former state athlete, he is passionate in sharing his technical expertise in electronics and software development with the racing world.
James McCoy
Technical Advisor
James McCoy is the world record holder of the fastest RC car in the world at 222 mph (357 km/h). A popular figure amongst RC fans throughout the world, he owns a YouTube channel that showcases his RC exploits. He even has a top-grade LiPo battery named after him.
James offers his technical expertise on how to design fast RC racing vehicles that challenge the racing envelope.
Who We Are
No qualifying, on-road racing
Heat Races
In each global competition, every racer starts from these preliminary rounds. Top racers from each heat advance to the next round.
Quarter/Semi-Finals
Racers who qualified from the heats shall compete in the quarter and semi-final races. Top finishers advance to the final.
Final Race
The final 8 drivers shall compete in a nerve-wrecking final race to be the champion of each global competition.
Season Finale
Winners of each global competition shall compete in the season-ending competition to be declared world champion.
